ITS THAT TIME OF THE YEAR AGAIN!!!!!!!
This year at New York Fashion Week the women are coming out looking fantastic. If you thought that walking into that corporate office or board meeting in a pair of solid color wedges with a Black knee length skirt was going to cut it this spring you have been mistaken. Looking deeper at the body shape of the individual is what is being seen this year. Shows like How to "Look Good Naked" are encouraging woman to dress to their size and not to what they want their size to be!
Another thing Do Not take your queues from the upcoming Sex and the City movie, Where bright pinks and scandalous tops this year are going to be looked at as a fashion no-no; Sarah Jessica Parker= ick.
Back to what is important. I recently was looking into the 2008 Vera Wang Collection and you would not believe what is going on this year. Colors, wraps, sleeves and straps if this years taking. The age of the business woman is coming out and it is looking spectacular. For the office woman we have knee length skirts with such dramatic tops. Different colors as exciting as purple and reds, but still using the simplicity of the browns and yellows while extenuating different tops and shoes. Absolutely stunning. For those of you out there that still have your big necklaces and bracelets don't throw them out yet, Accessories this season are going to be "huge" literally and figuratively. The giant Bangles and double looped necklace is a must for any girl on the go. A few additives is never a bad thing just make sure you don't go overboard. A wonderful little place that we found for hats, belts and other is lefashionista.com check em out!
High fashion gowns this year reminded me of what it was like to live in a communist era, no diversity. However going through the show again made me realize that non-other than Tadashi Shoji came out again and just dazzled the crowd. His gowns are absolutely dazzling. The use of the colors is more of an art form that gave way to the shape of the woman. Using a draping and layering technique showed the curve and physique of the ladies bodies that you haven't seen in awhile. Shoji came out on top this year for high fashion gowns and I would probably expect to see a few of these on Red Carpet come next week.
For those of you who know me personally Carmen Marc Valvo is some what of an icon of mine his gowns are always, what’s the word, Stupendous, however this year I was left a little flat. Valvo's gowns are known in the industry for the "every type" woman because his gowns are made to be altered which is a plus when you can appeal to even the "bustier" or "rumpier" women. Looking back at his 2005 fall Collection is what I miss from Valvo. Simplistic colors with stunning design. Overcoats and furs. Ties and bows, big shoulders, and different but beautiful. Valvo I'm hoping you hit a home run in your Spring line I know you will.
